August 1, 2007:
After another year of
driving the probe its still on the road...barely! It has some mechanical
issues that need addressed in the front end suspension. But after
redynoing I made 289whp and 307ft-lbs on 10.5psi on only 12 degrees of
timing. The stock intake manifold needs upgraded as well as the smallish
intercooler and then some real power can start being made on higher
boost.

I finally hit
the dyno with the new engine and a decent tune. The engine made 260.0whp
and 253.9lb-ft @ 7.1psi boost with 18 degrees of timing and 12.0:1 AFR
on a DynoJet. Overall I wasn't thrilled with the results but the only
modifications I have over stock is gutted VRIS, the ZE heads/cams and my
clutch. I plan to build a 66mm throttle body and maybe a custom intake
manifold over winter if I get ambitious. Considering my engine puts out
~130whp w/out boost, I made 130whp more on just 7psi and my 60 trim T4
isn't very efficient unless I run 9psi or more. So I made 18.5whp per
1psi boost. I'm currently running 10psi and this would put me around
315whp and 305lb-ft. All I can say is its pretty fast, but now the
problem has become traction. I am spinning 2nd and 3rd gear pretty badly
even with fairly sticky street tires. But its winter, so not much fun
driving left anyway. IT LIVES AGAIN...CHEERS! P.S. Videos
have been added on Photos
page.

Mega Squirt has
been wired up and the tuning has begun. The idle's not so good and it
needs some more tweaking before it hits the dyno but it will be SOON! I'm
going to go after my original goal of 300whp. The engine and turbo should
have no problems surpassing that. I'm not so sure the clutch will take
all of that being a Stage2 street disk but we'll see!
